In the first place landscapes, but also artwork that is inspired by memories. Besides that there are some abstract paintings.

At the opening my brother Marien, who works here at the newspaper, held a speech titled Journey through the past. My niece Hester Geelhoed sang some beautiful songs, among others from James Taylor.

Last but not least Rien van den Berg read some of his poems, especially made by four of my landscapes.

This exhibition is open till april 3rd 2009. On working days visitors are welcome at the Nederlands Dagblad, Hermesweg 20 in Barneveld.

Exhibition at Nederlands Dagblad
14th of january 2009

Beginning on January 23rd in the building of the Nederlands Dagblad (newspaper) there is an exhibition of my paintings. There are three themes: landscapes, abstract compositions and paintings that are based on my youth.

This exhibition will be opened on Friday January 23rd at 16.00 a.m. by my brother Marien, who works as a secretary for the Nederlands Dagblad. For several years in his office one of my paintings hangs on the wall, which is changed regularly. So it is a good opportunity so show some more pictures here. Besides that: it is the newspaper I read for over thirty years.

Everyone is invited for the opening-ceremony. Rien van den Berg, journalist and poet, will read some of his poems. There is some nice music. After that, visitors can view the paintings and discuss them with other people.

The exhibition is from January 23rd till April 3rd. On working-days visitors are welcome during office-hours (9 p.m till 16 am) to visit the exhibition at the Nederlands Dagblad. Address: Hermesweg 20 in Barneveld.

'Overwintering' in Grote Kerk Veere
23th of december 2008

For the third year in advance there is an exhibition in the Grote Kerk in Veere, called Overwinteren (‘Overwintering’). The first two editions were very well visited. Last year there were almost 2500 visitors.

Eighty-five artists, all member of the CBK Zeeland, are participating; each of them shows two art pieces.
From me two paintings with a railroad-crossing (in summer and winter) near our village are exhibited.

Very varying work in a beautiful environment!
There is also design-furniture to see (and to try).

The exhibition is from December 2008-12-19 till 2009-01-11. Open: 13-17 a.m. Closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam 2008

Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam
27th of october 2008

New on this website: five new landscapes, which were painted last summer (part 4).

Two of this pictures will be exhibited in the on the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam. This Art Fair will be held in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam from October 30th till November 2nd.
Yvonne Lolkema, of Gallery Art Options in Langbroek shows them there.
Art Options is the most important gallery on the subject of the Dutch landscape. You can see there many-sided and interesting works of artists all over the country.

Two other landscapes (railroad crossings) can be seen in the Grote Kerk in Veere, at an exhibition during the winter.

The smallest painting, with the barn, is sold in the mean time.

Well visited open studio
27th of september 2008

The studio has undergone a complete metamorphosis owing to the exhibition on Monument-day, Saturday the 13th of September.
More than a hundred visitors came to see the sculptures of Leendert Houtekamer and my paintings. Many of them also visited the little church of our village, which is beautifully restored.

Leendert Houtekamer showed more than life-size portraits in bronze and (painted) plaster and also masks and small bronze sculptures.
I had put up pictures of the Dutch landscape, among which a few new paintings of the railroad crossing at our village, and some abstract paintings.
There was an excellent match between sculptures and paintings.

Although Leendert and I studied at the same time at the Academy in Tilburg, this was the very first time we had an exhibition together. Maybe this was not for the last time…

Four landscapes in the Museum of Kemerovo
Two exhibitions
4th of june 2008

The exhibition Art&Nature, organised by the Rotary Club Goes and the CBK Zeeland, in the Grote Kerk in Goes was visited by 1700 people.
At the closing auction, my painting Omweg was bought by the municipal Goes. This painting will be placed in the town-hall.

Under a lot of media attention the exhibition Landscapes of Holland has been opened in the Regional Museum of Fine Arts in Kemerovo (Siberia). Five out of fourteen participating artists went to Siberia to give workshops. They worked together with art students. Peter van der Toorn, the organizer, had a hard time solving all sort of problems (the customs for example), but the result is excellent. There is a lot of interest in the paintings of the Dutch landscape artists in Russia. A Russian/English catalogue was published at the exhibition. I have received some photographs from one of the artists who were in Kemerovo, as you can see in the left column.

Peter van der Toorn Vrijthof, an architect from the Hague, is the chairman of a foundation which maintains contact with the city of Kemerovo in Siberia (Russian Federation). He organizes an exhibition about the Dutch landscape in art. Fourteen artists from all over The Netherlands participate in it.
I am one of them, which means that eight of my landscapes will be exhibited in the Regional Museum of Fine Arts in Kemerovo, between the 15th of may and the 15th of august. The exhibition is named Dutch Landscape.

Besides that, I received an invitation for an exhibition called Art & Nature, which is organized by the Rotary Club Goes in cooperation with CBK Zeeland.
It will take place in the Grote- or Maria Magdalenakerk in Goes, from the 23rd till the 31st of may. Forty visual artists will all send in two works of art.
The paintings and sculptures will be auctioned at the last day of the exhibition for the benefit of the preservation of the landscape of Zeeland.
